Heidi, you are confusing several issues here.
1. Single digit body fat is normal and healthy for a man. "Low" would have to be something less than about 2%, for a man.
2. In the teens is the normal healthy range for women, even into the low twenties can be acceptable, depending upon the woman's morphology. So, "low" for a woman is single digits up to 11 or 12, again, depending upon morphology.
3. Eating no overt fat has very little to do with quantity of body fat. These are two separate and very distinctly different qualities. Eating no overts does not automatically mean that a woman's body fat will be lower than is healthy. There is no roulette being played at all.
