Subject:         Dr. D - Question regarding taking a child to a chiropractor for check-ups
Date: March 1, 2012 at 5:21 am PST

So we started taking our child to a chiropractor, because we didn't like pediatricians always trying to push vaccines on us. But, I continue to feel that the chiro is taking advantage of us, and would value your opinion.

The benefits I see of taking our child to a chiro are:
-there is a chance that the adjustments are doing some good use, although I don't think that they are.
-there is a chance that, if some serious obscure condition develops in our child, that the chiro might notice it before I do.
-there is a chance that, if we ever get into any legal trouble regarding our daughter (like with CPS), that the medical record of us taking her to the chiro could be of some help.

The disadvantage I see is this:
-It is expensive. After a period of "initial intensive care", the chiro continues to want to see our child once per week for "wellness care" and give her a weekly adjustment. This, to me, seems completely not needed.

Our child has always been healthy...nothing worse than a rare cold. My preference would be for us to take our child to the chiro maybe one or twice per year for check-ups & adjustments, and in addition probably going to the chiro first in the event our child becomes ill. However, the chiro wants to continue to see our child once per week indefinitely.

What do you think?
