Oranges shouldn't cause a problem if you rinse after eating them and wait at least a half hour before brushing.
The only concern with dates is that they are sticky, and stick to the teeth. Since they are not acidic, you can floss/brush (only water needed) immediately after eating dates, if you'd like. Soaking dates before eating makes them less likely to stick as much, also.
I'd recommend flossing & brushing at least a couple times a day. As long as you wait a while after eating something acidic, use only a non-abrasive toothpaste (if any) and a soft brush, and brush gently (no need to scrub), brushing more often can't hurt.
And of course be sure to eat lots of greens, like lettuce & celery. Minerals are important for dental (& overall) health, and greens are the best source. Eating greens can also function almost like brushing your teeth, as they can dislodge stuck pieces of fruit.
