In Dr. Graham's 80/10/10 book, its relatively clear that that eating lots of fruit does not work well with a diet with too much fat. Obviously he thinks 10% or less of total fat calories is best. But, what about people who eat more fat occasionally (like once a week or so)? Can people go back and forth between eating mostly raw fruit with some cooked grains, cooked vegetables, other vegan foods that have oil, etc? If someone eats more than 10% fat on a regular or semi-regular basis, should they stay away from too much fruit?
Does it have to be either/or, all-or nothing with large quantities of fruit?
I ask mainly for 2 reasons...
-Some people who I have told about this way of eating have decided to incorporate larger quantities of fruit into their diets - but still eat a more SAD vegetarian style...with refined oils, dairy, etc. Is that safe?
-I anticipate being in social situations where Id be OK with eating a more standard cooked vegan diet that included some refined oils, beans, refined grains on occasion. I worry that then going back to high fruit could be creating dangerous conditions in my body.
Any thoughts on this?
