I don't know of any ways to do this without a pull-up bar, so hopefully someone else has suggestions for that. BUT, I can tell you this is the method I used with a pull-up bar and I progressed to unassisted pull-ups in about a month-and-a-half of doing them 3 days per week. I used the easiest band first with two feet in, then 1 foot, then knees, then 1 knee . . . progressed to the more difficult band and did the same, finally getting to where I could pull up with no band at all! Oh, happy day! :) When I started, I couldn't even hold my chin above the bar for two seconds. Pathetic.
