Hi Rog,
I have a similar injury, I was a lifelong competitive swimmer and
then a hobby runner who did 5ks etc. I'm still hoping for a rebirth
of cartilage, and I believe as I follow 80 10 10 it will start to
happen but the body heals in order of importance.
I am by no means an expert in anatomy but I am a trainer in
Gyrotonic which is a highly intelligent form of exercise and
movement. With that said, I am suspect of PT as it works only as
long as you are doing it as countless of my clients will attest as
most of them come out of injured situations like yours.
I believe in getting several dr's opinions etc, get a harcore
diagnosis and then seek out your own rehab based on what u
find out. Pilates is a good and often affordable and available
rehab but it can be easily overdone, it was never meant to be
practiced 3x's a week for years and the stiffest people I work with
are Pilates junkies, only work with an experienced trainer and
avoid "classical" pilates, Stotts pilates is best for rehabbing.
Raw foods r best for the body to heal up the fastest, check out dr
Graham's book 80 10 10 diet.
Also, highly recommend svaroopa yoga (but watch that they dont
turn you Hindu, unless you already r :)) it showed me that my
adductors were weak because of life long spinal habits and it is
helping my stubborn knee injuries to actually heal!!!! it works like
magic it's amazing stuff....all the best
