Hello Dr. Graham,
I know that fruits and vegetables are always the best choice,
but you often suggest (especially in the High Energy Diet
Recipe Guide) to consume fruit and vegetables
smoothies/juices.
Someone says that they're not so healthy and in fact it would
be better to avoid them.
About that, Dr. Esselstyn in his Q&A
(http://www.heartattackproof.com/qanda.htm) explains:
"Smoothies – How about smoothies? I love them!
Avoid smoothies. The fiber is so finely pureed that its
helpful properties are destroyed. The sugar is stripped from
the fruit, bypasses salivary digestion and results in a surge
of glucose and the accompanying fructose contributes to
inflammation and hypertension".
Also T. Colin Campbell agrees, according to this post
http://happyherbivore.com/2012/01/why-i-stopped-drinking-
green-smoothies/
Esselstyn's explanation makes perfect sense, what do you think
about it?
Why do you think smoothies and juices are in fact good?
Thank you as always
Kind regards
Augusto
