Doug Graham advises against cleansing because you disrupt the intestines, such as removing the good bacteria. It is better to change the environment (Antoine Béchamp and Claude Bernard) than to treat the problem (Louis Pasteur (until he admitted that Claude Bernard was correct) and modern medicine). That is the fundamental difference between them and us. I have found that everyone, except Doug Graham and those following Doug Graham, think like Louis Pasteur, including David Wolfe and modern medicine. They try to treat the problem with supplements, cleanses, etc., whereas we change the internal environment (le milieu intérieur) and external environment with our natural diet and the lifestyle and let the body heal itself. When provided the right conditions, the body goes toward health or homeostasis, except for permanent damage. Our way is like taking care of plant. A plant comes with a list of conditions, such as amount of water, amount of sunlight, and the pH. When you supply the conditions, the plant will thrive. Louis Pasteur, until he changed his mind, would give the plant medication even while the plant was not getting enough sunlight. It's like mopping up the floor while the faucet is turned on. You need to turn the faucet off so that you can stop the floor from becoming more wet. So, by changing the environment, you give the body a chance to heal itself because you've stopped the flow of toxins and have added things that the body needs like raw fruits and greens, exercise, weight lifting, sunlight, and sleep. You can tell your friends about those two ways of thinking about health, which are changing the environment versus treating the problem.
