I really feel for you, Vickie. I do. And, why? Because I feel like I’ve been where you are (well, not exactly, because each one of us is unique with our own unique life experiences, but I feel like I can RELATE). I come from a LONG family history of cancer, starting with my father dying from lung cancer when he was but 30. For many years, I worried about when would it be my turn? My husband would (very wisely) tease me that all that worrying would be what would send me to my grave. I finally made a decision to try and take the best care of myself that I can in any given situation and leave the results up to God. It is something I have to make a conscious choice to do and practice on a day by day (sometimes moment by moment!) basis.

As for where we live, it’s been a long time in coming. Lots of saving and hard work. I know that Dr. Graham lives in the UK and has something called an “allotment garden”: http://www.vegsource.com/talk/raw/messages/100031302.html
Might that be an option for you? Or, have you thought about trying to grow indoor lettuces? This thread with lots of comments from Dr. Graham might prove helpful: http://www.vegsource.com/talk/raw/messages/10005279.html

And, as for weather/sunshine. Yes, this definitely effects my mood! This winter has been unseasonably dry and not many foggy days either, so the sun has been shining a lot more. Last year, on the other hand, it rained and rained and rained, and when it wasn’t raining it was foggy. For me, I find a light box really helps during those times. Yes, moving to a place that’s sunny year-round might be ideal, but we choose to live here for other reasons. I got the desk lamp here: http://www.biobrite.com/products.php?category_id=4&PHPSESSID=fb9462d78345bfaa86df308b85e1fd93

How are you doing on physical activity and sleep, Vickie? I know that for me, lack of either one of those can really mess with my mood. Meditation has been a very important source of lowering my anxiety and lending a sense of peace in my life.

Anyway, these are all just ideas I was having in thinking about your situation today. Take what you like (if anything!) and leave the rest.

Finally, if you really want some personal coaching, I highly suggest contacting Dr. Graham. http://foodnsport.com/shop/coaching/consult.php
I promise I am not paid to promote him! Just wanting to pass on the valuable experience I had through one-on-one coaching with him. He really helped me to break through some things that were keeping me stuck. He took the time to really tailor his advice to me and where I was at and where I wanted to go, and I am every so grateful.

I encourage you to be gentle with yourself, Vickie. Do your best in any given moment, and strive to do even better in the next. Treat yourself as nicely as you treat others. You are so good at encouraging others; try encouraging yourself sometime, okay? I can say this ‘cause it’s something Dr. Graham has encouraged me to do as well. :)
