Subject:         Mental activity v physical activity-should we allow extra calories for more mental activity?

Which utilises more calories on average - mental or physically activity?

The 811 book seems to suggest you can work out your calorie requirement in relation to your weight in pounds and physical activity, but hasn't mentioned adjustments for mental activity (I may be wrong on this).

For example what would be the ideal calorie requirement for a woman weighing 150lbs who potters round the house in the day, but uses alot of mental energy up on an online
business?

Also what about people with existing mental issues-should their calories be increased to allow/compensate for this?

Thanks,

Marina xx
