Hi JM, Thankyou for this thread-very interesting. I just want to say that I respect both Doug's and Harley's different approaches to calories intake-neither 1 I have done consistently over a long period of time to judge. I agree that most people that are still eating cooked food, do have underlining issues they need to sort out and which in part they may be dulling/cushioning by eating cooked foods. I've also noticed that if I neglect my sleep or don't eat enough calories, I tend to gravitate to cooked food and it generally always catches up on me, sooner or later. At the moment I am working on almost complete elimination of salt and oil, which is having an almost similar feel of when I go completely raw. Without these 2 stimulants I am slowly seeing cooked food for what it real is and my attachment is fading, more so than when I repeatedly tried to go cold turkey. However no-one can deny that if people's basic physiological needs are met first,i.e. sugar, water, sleep, then they will most likely find their issues better to deal with and life in general. I think that's what Freelee & Harley are trying to get across. Sure, there are many other factors to health, such as Doug lists in his 811 book, but many of which can't be attained unless our basic needs are met first. For e.g someone with social anxiety will be better equipped to deal with social situations if they are well rested, hydrated and satiated.
