Yes, the dietary fiber stimulate the bowel movement. But now I prefer a different explanation: As luck would have it, I came across some information that explains the phenomenon (that a high carb, low fat, low protin diet causes fat loss or requires more calories to maintain weight) well in my opinion. However, strictly speaking, this possibly explains the phenomenon in respect to diets like 811 vs standard diets, and is not related to the original poster's question :D
