Jason, I'm sorry for the stress you went through and are still sort of going through. I went through a lot of stress and not sleeping and was worried sick about not being able to sleep & that it would affect my health with dire consequences. I asked my mom about it and she said, "Don't worry. When your body has had enough, you'll sleep." And she was right. It took about 3-4 nights of sleeplessness then I did sleep. I know it's tempting to want to take a pill, but don't! Just let nature do her perfect work.
There is an old saying: "Oh what a difference a day makes." And there is a lot of truth in that old statement. Just when everything seems so dark and hopeless, it's usually that very next day or night that brings relief.
If you have a close understanding friend that you can go on a long walk with & tell all to, you might want to do that. Or if there is no one available in that capacity at this time in your life, just walk by yourself; and maybe play music you like. Just gently tire yourself out and trust that you'll sleep when Nature decrees. That helped me when I was sleepless and going through stressful times.
Jason, another thing, stay away from violent TV programs and upsetting news as much as you can for awhile. Feed your mind good, loving thoughts and if you watch movies, try to make them uplifting ones. Don't fret over anything, past or present. Just let go of all negative feelings, worries or fears. It's all going to be all right. It really is. It may not feel like it at the moment, but it will be. And though this may sound a little contradictory, if you need to have a good cry about something, do it. Just let it all out and get it all out of you.
I wish you peace over everything and remember you're not alone in feeling like this. The world and all the craziness out there has become extremely unsettling for all of us at times.
