I, too, am trying to achieve the same thing. This modern world is so fast and furious. I just long for peace and quiet!

I am going to definitely follow Dr. D's suggestions. I'm sure those things will help tremendously.

My husband ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS!) wants to watch a DVD while we have dinner. And it always ends up with screeching tires, murders, people yelling and screaming at each other horribly, music in the background that makes one a tense, nervous wreck (And, of course, Murphy's law! Even in so-called "non-violent" movie plots, the worst parts seem to surface just at the time we're beginning our meal!) -- and I have tolerated this for waaaay too long. I keep threatening to pull the plug on the VCR and put on some nice, soothing music - or just nothing at all!

I hope you find that peace, David. I'm really desperate for it, too.
