Hi, I've done alot of research in the last couple of years on exercise physiology. I believe that, unfortunately, most textbooks, even ones currently used in universities, contain alot of really outdated information. One book I'd recommend is Lore of Running, 4th Edition by South African researcher Tim Noakes. Noakes has caused alot of controversy in the Sports Science world by cutting through the BS and openly challenging some ideas that have been almost blindly followed since the early 1900's. Some of the stuff he and a few other researchers are doing in the exercise world I'd liken somewhat to what T Colin Campbell has done in the nutrition world. Definitely worth a read for anyone interested in their body's performance. I found a limited preview on google books which allows you to read some of the chapters . Search for Lore of Running. books . google . com Cheers.
