Subject:         post-harvest fruit treatments?
Date: July 3, 2009 at 7:16 pm PST

Dr. D's book mentions that imported mangoes in the US are heat-treated. Does this apply to all types of mangoes, including organics?

Are there other fruits that are likely to have undergone post-harvest treatments (like heat), even if they are organic? Which fruits are treated and is it possible to get those fruits in an untreated state (if they aren't grown locally)? Does it make a difference when fruit is imported from another state vs another country?

Thank you!
