Subject:	weighted vest question

After years of using my backpack with a water jug inside, I am feeling
somewhat frustrated by the limitations of this approach and am considering
getting a weighted vest. I have never used one before.

So I ask those with experience:

Are weighted vests worthwhile (compared with jury-rigged alternatives)?

If so, any specific advice or recommendations?
