Following the standard 2000kCal reference, though, I think that DK's
recommendation of 1/4 cup is quite high, even for very light seeds
such as hemp. 2 tablespoons (1/8 cup) is a better daily guideline for
nuts and seeds. (Most of the long-timers here average much less
than that.)

As for going without overts, I agree: you can stay away from them for
as long as you care to.
