Subject:         fresh nuts/seeds?

Would there be any reason to soak fresh nuts/seeds (like walnuts off the tree or pumpkin seeds straight from the pumpkin)?

We're told to soak dried nuts/seeds to make them more digestible by rehydrating them and getting rid of enzyme inhibitors and other such substances. Fresh nuts are obviously naturally moist, but what about the enzyme inhibitor stuff?

It does seem rather unnatural to have to soak (fresh) nuts and seeds... I can't imagine our ancestors or other animals going out of their way to first soak the nuts before eating them. Just shelling a few and eating them seems most natural...
