Hello

I've been training the last 3 months or so to do a half marathon in September. I've been building up slowly and increasing my miles by 1 or 2 miles per week. I'm up to about 9 miles now for my long runs.

A month ago, I took a graceful nosedive off a curbside and bloodied up my arm. I didn't notice until the next day that my hip really hurt. I took a couple days off and got back to it. PRoblem is, it's been a month now and the hip pain while intermittant (better worse better worse), is now simply getting worse and after I run, I limp around for about a day in pain.

I'm visiting parents in Colorado and had a chance to talk with my dad's friend who happens to be a sports physiologist for one of the Olympic teams. He said I need to take mega doses of ibuprofin in order to see if it's an inflammation.

Obviously ibuprofin is not on my menu and I don't plan to ingest it. Do you have any other suggestions? The race day is approaching and I'm stuck.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Heidi
