Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen, written by Christopher McDougal. True story about a tribe in Northern Mexico mountains that runs 20 or so miles a day without fatigue or injury. Story goes on to entertain while educating about "natural" running form and physiology, how we have subverted our natural form with stressful lifestyles and expensive cushioned running shoes which increase injury and deter many from what McDougal asserts is our natural birthright: to run joyfully and effortlessly in connection with Mother earth. He goes on to detail the history of the Leadville, Colorado 100 mile race and talks about the athletes who run it: jaw dropping inspiring stories. One gal ran the 100 mile race and just for fun, turned around and ran 100 miles home. All written in a way that makes you laugh out loud and want to immeditely lace up your running shoes (or better yet, run barefoot). Relearning how to run naturally again, like children do automatically, and eating vegan, he says, creates great athletes. A good read all around.
