Thanks, John. Interesting info. I am wondering about one statistic in the list. "The largest age group, 33,103 were 18 years old." I know this military force is often labeled the youngest army the US has ever fielded but that stat sticks out at me. True, the draft was in full blossom at the time, so much so the hostility to the draft resulted with the conscription being done away with in the early '70s. But most were not drafted until 18 1/2 year old, then basic training, etc., took months, the deployment to S.E. Asia took some time. It just seems strange that many of that age would be sent. Any thoughts or conclusions?
