"Each large serving of white rice was linked to an 11 percent increased risk..." Each large serving per day over some period of time, I guess is what is meant. I was in a small mom-and-pop oriental grocery where they have 50-lb sacks of white rice stacked all over when some Chinese guy comes in and trucks out four sacks to his car. I asked the owner if his store is where local Chinese restaurants come for their rice. He told me all his Chinese customers buy 50-lb bags since Chinese people eat lots of white rice every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat white rice every now and then, but I prefer brown. What gets me is that brown rice is more expensive than white even though it has less work done on it to bring it to market.
