but we keep the thermostat at 60 F night and day during the winter, not to be good green citizens, but because we just prefer to wear sweaters and use blankets at night. We have a powerful attic fan that we prefer to A/C during the summer. I once turned that thing on high with the house buttoned up, and I thought it was gonna pull in walls in. I had a math teacher in high school who kept the windows open at all times in her classroom during the winter because she thought the cold was good for mental alertness. It worked to the extent that nobody fell asleep, but shivering didn't help most of us to learn algebra any better.
