Yep, it's what I wanted. I was making the point I wished they had radio controlled "bullets" when I was in Fire Direction Control telling these 155 mm self propelled guns what azimuth, powder charge and elevation to use before firing.

These were used in the Korean conflict, before my time, but were not used in Vietnam as far as I know. Guns fire shells in a flat trajectory and howitzers can fire shells in a "loop," making them effective in mountains and hills. But howitzers don't have the range these guns have. These 155 could reach targets 15 miles away with a super charge.

My unit eventually changed over to 4.2 mortars which are smaller howitzers in a way. FDC principles worked the same so we didn't have to get re-schooled much at all. I left after nine years to do other things.
