to my surprise, I was wrong. The last time the Arctic was completely ice-free was 3.5 Million years ago. Sorry about that.

Conservative estimates now have the Arctic being ice-free by 2030, but many scientists think it will be sooner.

Linked below is an article you'll be interested in. Scroll down a bit to the one stating the 3.5 million year figure.

As for cycles, we've had at least 6 periods of glaciation in the last 650,000 years, and at no time during that period has the Arctic been ice-free in the summer.

You really ought to read those books.
