It's more than twice as good as Windows. I never objected to companies charging money for software. In fact, I used to view the free software movement as naive, assuming that the best software wouldn't be created without a profit motive. Wow, was I ever wrong! Amarok beats the pants off Windows Media Player, iTunes, WinAmp, or even MediaMonkey (which is quite good). It blows my mind that I got both Ubuntu Linux and Amarok for free. It's outstanding.
I've decided to not just use Linux for my jukebox PC. I'm going to install it as a dual boot on my regular PC as well and only use Windows when I have to, while I'm transitioning and finding equivalents to software I'm used to.
I didn't realize I was going to like Linux this much. There's no doubt in my mind the public would be served better if Linux became the standard OS for PCs. It's already a standard OS for web servers.
