I went to log onto AOL and on my Welcome Screen was the tragic story of Eight Belles. I WISH I NEVER SAW IT. I am so upset to the point of crying over this. How can it be legal to keep putting horses through this type of abuse? I am just so upset that this beautiful horse had to suffer so much and be killed. I keep thinking there must have been some way to help her - couldn't they give her pain killers or anesthesia? Don't they have some kind of lift they can use for horses? I don't get it. How do I get this out of my mind? I was reading some of the comments that were posted after the article and it made me feel a little better because I realized there are many others who are upset and angry as well. Someone even questioned why the Humane Society doesn't get involved. I wonder that too - or some animal organization that can help horses and other animals from being exploited in this manner.
