My first (and only) pressure cooker has short handles and the top screw down lid. It works wonderfully and I've never had any problems with it. I use it primarily for brown rice and stews. I bought it (about 3 years ago) because it was a screaming deal (stainless steel, huge capasity, only $30) from a local importer: Bo-Nash Inc., Auburn WA. They purchased them from China, and sadly, they no longer sell them. So, I feel like I own a special and rare cooking pot.

My aunt has the long handled variety, so I am able to compare. I found that the lid does go on and come off more easily, and for someone older (who may have problems with pain in wrist or hands) it is the better option.

But as long as I'm able to screw that lid down, I won't trade in my Y9 pressure cooker for a long handle. It's too perfect for all the pressure cooking that I do.
