Sir, I regret to inform you that your calculations on the cutco sets are incorrect and I think I can spell out for you what's wrong about them. The reason that you think that table knives from the ultimate set cost $500 in total or about $50 each is because you were shown both the ultimate set and the ultimate entertainer set and were not explained the full details of each. The ultimate set costs $1999 in total and is a 32 piece set. The ultimate set is the complete cutco set and includes the 12 table knives (what you call pseudo steak knives). Similar sets from Henckels or Wusthoffs will run you $3000. The ultimate entertainer set costs $2499 and includes everything in the ultimate set and 12 sets of 4 piece flatware settings. Each set comes with $400 or $500 worth of free stuff respectively, but that's only on a first call special (first demonstration) so hopefully the cutco rep will still offer that to you. Personally I would NEVER buy equivalent sets of Henckels or Wusthoffs seeing as how they aren't guaranteed forever and cost so much more than the cutco's do. Hopefully this has cleared up some of the confusion on the matter for you.
