"440A steel is a harder grain, and requires less frequent sharpening, which is perfect for a product with a double-D edge that is intended to go several years between sharpenings." Fine, except that there are now a litany of better steels for a long-wear blade, and it would seem Cutco hasn't the slightest interest in any of 'em. I suspect that's because it would increase the production cost of their cheapie home-user knives, and we wouldn't have that. The fact also remains that Cutco _never freaking shuts up_ about "high carbon" this and that when it comes to their steel, and you do have to admit, 440C is the higher carbon choice vs. 440A -- perhaps people will ease up on your marketing of steel if you laid off the ridiculous hype?
