That is a Cutco marketing myth, and like many a Cutco buyer, you've simply become a shill for their ridiculous claims. In fact, I'm now forced to wonder if you're actually a Cutco representative in disguise, as your wording is basically exactly that used to discredit superior knives (in an effort to sell Cutco's overrated, cheaped stamped garbage to people who know nothing about cutlery).
The trust is that it's trivial to sharpen ANY serrated edge. It would have taken you all of 30 seconds to learn this on any of the Spyderco forums where people are routinely sharpening their partially or even fully serrated edges with round ceramic rods (such as those Spyderco produces).
But you? No, rather than look into it, you simply parrot the false claims from Cutco, casting doubt on your opinion in general and your specific thoughts here in particular. Not wise, and others would be smart to doubt your credibility at this point.
