Some beans splatter in the cooker and clog the jiggle-top vent. Here is a technique I use to stop the clogging: After putting the beans and water in the pot, gently set a bunch of cut up greens on top of the beans and water. I use enough greens to create about a 1 inch cover over the beans and water. The greens stay on top during cooking and keep the bean splatter from going up into the vent. I have no problem with limas, lentils, or split peas using this method. This is a good way to get more greens into your diet. Beans and (any) greens also make a great taste combination. And you can buy and use the cheaper jiggle-tops without using oil to cook your beans!
