6 L is good for 4-6 meals. Especially if cooking rice separately. Using an inner pot in this size made more sense than buying an additional smaller pot for me--unless you want to reduce the dead weight of the pot. A 10 L sounds very heavy. You do want to be able to pick the thing up empty by the handle with one hand if possible. When it has food in it, it will be more than twice as heavy so there is a practical limit to size--not just the number of mouths you have to feed.
