Hello to all. I purchased 2 pressure cookers at an estate sale this year. The thought never occurred to me that they might be made of aluminum till I brought them home. One is a large canner (got it for $3!!) the other looks to be about 6 quarts?? ($2!!). So, how can I tell if they are aluminum? The canner has it's original book "The Modern (ha ha) Guide to Pressure Cooking and Canning" (Presto - I tried looking on ebay and the Presto website .. no luck). The other used to have a tag of sorts on the handle close to the lid, but it's rubbed off (there are a few numbers carved on the bottom though). It has a pea-green paint type coating on the exterior that's really scratched. Now - if they are aluminum, would it still be safe to use the canner to can things? The aluminum cannot get through the canning jars, can it? Ok - hope I made sense! Blessings,
