Subject:	making split peas in a Fagor

I have a new 6 quart Fagor and I am scared to cook any type of split pea, red lentil, yellowq lentil in it because:
1. I don't want to use oil
2. I am scared that the foam will clog the spout. It's only a week old after all and this is the first time I've used it. So...how would I cook these things (lentil to water ratio, etc)
