If you search below your questions on the electrics might be answered. I think they are not preferred because it is harder to regulate the heat.
For mid-priced I think your only option might be a Fagor. I actually use a presto. After a couple of test runs I have become very comfortable with it.

After rediscovering my pressure cooker - I used it 4 times in one week.
