Well, it does of course shorten the cooking time, but the soaking itself takes a lot more time than it saves. I usually don't plan my meals far enough ahead to soak the night before, and the 'quick soak' method takes over an hour. If I get home from work and say "I want Mexican tonight!" I can have the beans done from dry to done in less that and hour and a half, where if I had to soak them it would take much longer. Does anyone out there ever do it this way? I recommend it for those who don't plan ahead!
