I just put mine in w/ 1 1/2 cups water per cup of rice and bring up to pressure for 7 min. I've never had a problem. I use basmati The recipe in that book is to make rice to use for rice balls. It's brown rice so I know the time is a little longer but the timing they are saying I would think it would either burn or turn to mush. No way you can make a ball from either. :lol
