I have found that simethecone is more effective for gas relief for me and for many people I have recommended it to. We don't need to take it any more, after eating beans nearly daily for 2 years - I guess we've developed the enzymes necessary for it. You might want to research the use of simethecone and babies - I have no clue as I haven't had children or breastfed one. But my 78 year old mother swears by it - takes it before the meal and it works wonders with beans and other gassy foods. Long's makes a generic brand of simethecone called Gas Relief gel capsules.
