I have never used a jiggle top so I couldn't say whether or not one would be very likely to foam much. I suggest trying one out. I did have a Kuhn for awhile & it nearly always foamed and clogged when cooking rice even if I put in a couple of teaspoons of oil. That was before I learned about the venting at startup routine. I gave the Kuhn to a friend and was never able to try venting steam at startup with it. I am 100% sure that it would have eliminated the problem. If you encounter foaming with your Kuhn you can manually vent steam at startup. Simply hold the valve down with a long spoon or by placing a cutting board on top of it and pressing it down to open the valve for 60-120 seconds after closing the lid of your rapidly boiling water beneath the insert. (some folks don't have the problems)

Another great use for insert cooking is reheating leftover rice or other foods. What I like to do is to add a little water to the insert and break apart the rice into fairly small chunks. Close the lid and heat to top pressure. When top pressure is attained turn the burner off. After a few minutes the unit can be opened in a running water release or by a 100% natural release. Makes for great reheated rice.

By the way, I cooked 3 cups of dry rice today in 4 cups of water today in pc insert. Came out great. Next time I cook it I am going to use a 1 to 1 ratio just to see how it will come out.
