The first thing I did after taking it out of the box a few weeks ago was to put an inch or so of water in it and give it a test. I noticed then that the steam was coming out from under the seal ring in two places. I thought it would settle in once the rubber ring aged a little, but it didn't. I really don't think I'm overloading it with beans, because I used my 4 qt Presto for about 10 yrs with the same amount of beans, with no problem. So I'd say it's defective, and I intend to take it back. Since Kohl's only carries Manttra, maybe I'll just get my money back and buy another brand.
