The K-R has multiple safety features and isn't going to blow up any more than the other would. The quality of the K-R is stunning. It's worth every penny and is beautifully designed, too. I use mine every day and my son has already informed me that he expects to see his name next to it in my will, hahahahaha!!!!! I have a gas stove and never use a heat diffuser.
