and made mashed potatoes in the KR. As I thought might happen, I had a brown film on the bottom of my cooker, but it was easy to remove. I think maybe I should have used the trivet?? I do not see any recommendations in the KR book in regards to the use of the trivet. Does anyone know what it is mainly used for? And, is it with the ridge side down??

DH and I were surprised at the taste and texture of the potatoes. It was a thick texture and tasted better than if you boil the potatoes in water. Wow. Only 3 minutes to fantastic mashed potatoes. That's something.

After potatoes were done, I transferred to a mixing bowl and used a mixer to mash the potatoes. I'm wondering if I should invest in a potato masher to mash them right in the KR. I'm concerned I'll scratch it up though so maybe not. :)

I'll still need to experiment with our electric, ceran range and figure out how to maintain pressure. I had one burner on high and once the cooker reached the second mark I moved the cooker to another burner that was set at medium. That was too high so I moved the cooker off the burner and turned the medium burner down a notch. I was concerned because the second red ring was a little higher than I thought it should be. If I understand correctly, the second ring should just be visible.

Well, this is a little long-winded, but I thought I'd share my experience and maybe someone can offer some advice, if any. I'm going to go pick out some PC recipes to get a grocery list together. I'm definitely going to keep at this.

Thanks for welcoming me to the board and all of your advice!
