Subject: split pea and barley soup

I threw this together from what was in the fridge/pantry. It's roughly adapted from a Lorna Sass recipe.

1 Cup split peas
1 cup barley (pearled)
about a cup of fresh fennel, coarsely chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 or 3 large cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot, chopped
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
5 or six cups water
1 TBSP oil

Put it all in the PC, bring to pressure, cook for 6 or 7 minutes. Quick release. Add S & P to taste. I also added a few tsps. of veggie broth powder.

It smells and tastes delcious!
