Subject: Need advice before investing in pressure cooker...

Is there an advantage to canning over freezing? Let's say I make a pot
of soup and have enough for six servings. I plan to eat this before
freezer burn would set in :-) Is there a nutritional / flavor
advantage of canning?

I was thinking of asking for a pressure cooker / canner for xmas :-)

Do I need a specific kind of pressure cooker or can they all be used for canning as well (As you can see, i have never done either )
