Subject: grrrrr.... there's something wrong here...

I've used my pressure cooker a handful of times. It's a TFAL. I've always washed the lid by hand, taking the pressure gage off and cleaning it. I let it air dry and put it back together. I just pulled it out to cook and I can't adjust the pressure gage. It's plastic. I'm affraid it's gonna break. What can I do?
