1) I cook for one, or for up to 4 when I have company. I use my 2.5 qt pressure skillet almost exclusively. For company the 4 qt has always been sufficient. 2) The simplest and least intimidating choice is a Fagor, non-electric, second generation, hands down. I grew up using 1st generation cookers. I had a chance to use a Farberware 8 qt earlier this year while on vacation. I'm not sure I'd have one in my kitchen if they paid me to. It was more complicated, more quirky and less reliable than my Fagors. Flo
