I don't need an insert at all. Nothing is going to stick to this baby. We are talking heavy duty non stick. I've been using a long grain Balsamic Brown Rice and I set the timer for 20 minutes. It comes out great. It is always cooked great... though I do sometimes set the lid back on (just loose) and let it steam itself a bit more (just with the residue heat, I don't turn it on again) if it seems too watery. Mostly, it is just fine as is. I love it. But then I also love my stove top pc, too.... but mostly I use the programable one.
