Subject: Help - the amazing, exploding black bean!

Your help, please! If you folks have success cooking a firm black bean that doesn't split - tell all!

Methods I've tried -
PC with kombu at high pressure (varying times for all methods)
PC with kombu at low pressure
slow cooker
stove top

No matter what I try, my beans are split and NOT firm (although very tasty!). I'd like whole beans to add to salads, etc. Also, mushy black beans are not the most attractive thing as a mix-in!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated -
